Royal Hill 2005

The first of what will hopefully be the annual ShACC meeting to celebrate the motor car was held at the riverside setting of the Royal Hill pub on 27th June. Yoland had identified no less than 26 local motor clubs to invite to join us, althoug two or three turned out not to be car clubs in our sense and for some the contact details were incorrect. Sadly, only a few clubs bothered to reply but that did not matter as on the day we had at least 45 cars plus one splendid Sunbeam motorbike with hand gear change, and the sun shone on the righteous.

There were cars in all shapes and sizes and spanning a fair few years in age as well - plenty to see and plenty of interesting people to talk to. Seen for the first time at a ShACC meeting was the Ford Model A replica of Tony and Marilyn Hornett, and there was the interesting sight of a real Healey and a replica, both fresh back from a Le Mans trip. The Mini Club fielded five vehicles, including a very smart GCM Coupe, while Dave Parr with the Cosworth represented HDLCC. The Reliants on display were about as diverse as you get from a Fox camper van to Scimitars.

It would take too much space to mention all the machinery but many thanks to Gus and Brian for photographs that record the event.

Altogether a thoroughly convivial evening
